Post-Construction Cleanup: What to Expect and What to Budget
A guide to post-construction cleaning phases, costs, and what to include in your cleaning scope.
The Punch List Is Done. Your Building Still Isn't Ready.
You signed off on the GC's final walkthrough. But look around: there's drywall dust on every surface, protective film on the windows, label residue on the fixtures, and a fine white layer on every horizontal surface that won't quit. That building isn't move-in ready. It needs a post-construction clean, and it needs one done right.
The Three Phases of Post-Construction Cleaning
Phase 1: Rough Clean — Remove bulk debris, sweep, initial dust removal. Happens while finishing work is still underway.
Phase 2: Detail Clean — Wipe all surfaces, clean windows, scrub floors, remove labels and stickers. Happens after all construction is complete.
Phase 3: Final Touch — Touch-up cleaning, floor polish, final inspection walkthrough. Happens right before occupancy.
